The Lutheran Experience

What it means to be Lutheran from our members' perspectives:

"The Lutheran Experience in music means that we blend hymns from our past with songs of today for our worship. Singing what we believe and what God has done for us touches our hearts and reaches out to those around us." ~ Wendy

"To use one word, trust. Trusting that the message spoken during worship will be Biblically based. Trusting that these words won't be taken out of context. Trusting that because of this message I'll have a deeper understanding of God's roadmap for my life." ~Heather

"I was raised in a devout Catholic family and so I was taught that the path to Heaven was based on faith in Jesus combined with a life-long dedication to good works. In my very first conversation with my WELS Lutheran Pastor, I was astounded by the concept that salvation is based on faith alone -- that Jesus' words "It is finished." truly means that He has earned my salvation for me. It was a huge relief from the overwhelming worry that I could never be "good enough" for Heaven based on my own good works." ~ Pam

"From the time I first left home 12 years ago to join the military, God has provided countless opportunities to worship in several WELS churches. While my personal devotion to my spiritual life has been lacking at times, the WELS has been an unwavering source of guidance in God's Word, spiritual and physical care, and encouraging fellowship. Although the fellowship styles or experiences may have been diversified by the cultures of the various WELS locations, each church has remained consistently true to the Christ-centered doctrine of the Bible." ~Holly
